AMARILLO—Nora Solorzano, 71, of Pampa, Texas, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in Amarillo.
Vigil was held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2002 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel. Father Luis Lopez officiated.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Luis Lopez officiated.
Cremation and arrangements were under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Nora was born on December 27, 1950 in Mission to Jose and Maria De La Luz Rodriguez Arjona.
She was baptized on July 2, 1952 in Plainview, Texas, and had her first holy communion on August 25, 1963 in Lockney.
Nora attended school in Medina and Lockney, Texas. She graduated from Lockney High School in 1972. Nora then attended Wayland Baptist University, where she earned her associates degree in child development. She worked for the Texas Migrant Council for 20 years.
Nora married Pedro Solorzano, Sr. on February 17, 1981 in Floydada. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2015. Nora and Pedro moved their family to Pampa in 1998. She worked aa a private childcare provider until her retirement in 2008.
Nora was a devoted member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was a woman of strong faith. She enjoyed listening to her favorite music, but there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family. She loved to spoil her grandchildren. Nora will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Nora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Jesse Arjona and Joey Arjona; and one brother-in-law, Valdmar Riojas.
She is survived by her five children, Amy Foster and husband, Jose; Pedro Solorzano, Jr. and wife, Christy; Natalie Solorzano; Laura Davis; and Veronica Claar and husband, Ricky, all of Pampa; three siblings, Alva Riojas of Andrews, Velma Rodriguez and husband, Juan of Floydada, and Johnny Arjona and wife, Devra of Lockney; two sisters-in-law, Heather Arjona of Lubbock and Ellen Arjona of Lockney; 14 grandchildren, Braden, Nathan, Nevaeh, Haylee, Gabby, Bryanna, Joel, Autumn, Rori, Ariel, Leven, Kal-El, Trey, Kara, and one on the way; 13 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Pampa Dialysis Center and Encompass/Enhabit Home Health for the great care they gave to Nora.
