Robert Tyson Stovall,
87, of Floydada, Texas, passed away on Sept. 9, 2026, at his home. His final days were spent with peace, dignity and grace surrounded by his family in his home in Floydada.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada.
Burial followed at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Robert was born on Nov. 10, 1938, in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated in 1957 from Floydada High School, where he excelled in athletics. He was the first freshman in the history of Floydada High School to earn a varsity letter in football. After graduation, he attended North Texas University, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and made lifelong friendships. He returned to Floydada to begin his farming and cattle business.
He married Darlean Laminack on Nov. 9, 1968, and enjoyed 49 years of marriage. His life was spent enjoying his family, watching his sons play sports, and perfecting his golf swing.
He served as president of the Floydada Booster Club, was a member of the Floydada School Board and was a member of the Floydada Country Club. He was a dedicated supporter of Floydada athletics and would refer to himself as a “True Whirlwind.”
He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Floydada, where he worked in the church office in his later years. He was always present greeting people, passing out programs, and working funerals.
He also spent time working in the pro shop at Floydada Country Club. He loved entertaining people by telling stories and sharing memories.
He will be remembered as a dedicated husband, loving father/grandfather and valued member of the Floydada community. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Tyson Stovall and Richard Franklin Stovall of Plainview, Texas; his wife, Darlean Stovall; and his brothers Richard Franklin Stovall of Kerrville, Texas, and Van Clifton Stovall of Montgomery, Texas.
Robert is survived by his sons Ty Stovall and his partner ,Tiffany Nell, Grant Stovall and his wife, Denise Stovall, and his grandchildren Zac, Shaylee, Kassidee and Kooper. Online condolences may be made at www.moorerose. com
