Visitation was held at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
Delinda was born Nov. 28, 1971, to Freddie Cecil and Linda (Myrick) Jackson. Delinda was raised on the Jackson Family Farm east of Sandhill. She attended school in Floydada, where she was active in the Whirlwind Band, was a proud member of the National Honor Society and was a Whirlwind cheerleader. After graduation she attended Texas Tech University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education in December 1994.
Delinda blessed Marty by becoming his wife August 10, 1991, and they shared over 35 years together. Being a trooper’s wife requires a special kind of person—late nights, early mornings; hurricane and border deployments mean being apart for days, weeks, and sometimes months. Patience, loyalty and an intense amount of grit are needed—she had no shortage of those traits and was very proud to stand by him through his 27-year-long career.
Delinda and Marty were blessed with two daughters, Ashley and Delaney. After a short time of being a proud and loving stay-athome mom, Delinda taught in Floydada for 16 years. She made an impact on so many children during her life, but especially in her role as an educator. She instilled a love for science and the importance of loving your neighbor and respecting your elders to Floydada’s youth. She expected everyone she met (child or adult) to behave, but she had an amazing sense of humor and could find the bright side of just about any situation.
Delinda and Marty were blessed with two nieces, Michaela and Kailee, who would often refer to their Aunt De as Mom. Delinda and Marty were blessed by many of their daughters’ friends that knew that they had somewhere to go for lunch, supper, or just to hang out. Delinda made their home a safe place for anyone that entered, and that was felt so deeply by the girls’ friends. De and Marty would often have an extra kid or two with them for road trips, extracurriculars, special dinners out, and Texas Tech football games. Delinda loved being everybody’s favorite mom, and would have had it no other way.
Delinda and Marty were blessed when Ashley married Lupe Lopez. They didn’t just get a son in-law, they got a son, and his great family came as part of the deal. Delinda became Momma De when she was blessed with her grandson, Holden. Delinda loved all her family with all that she had, was always there for them, would defend them against anyone, but that little boy was one of her greatest joys. Momma De and Holden were two peas in a pod, and she co-signed his chaos every chance she got. He was very much his grandmomma’s baby, and she loved watching, laughing at, and encouraging his mischief.
Delinda retired from teaching to be the primary caregiver for her mother. After her mother passed, De decided to be a stay-athome wife. She supported Marty through his DPS retirement and his running for Floyd County Judge. De loved traveling to conferences with Marty—she loved the adventure, the new people, the great food. She loved to listen to people’s stories, and she never met a stranger. She was easy to talk to and was safe with a secret. She went to every commissioners court she could. She loved to be in the loop and learning everything she could about Marty’s career.
Being a stay-at-home wife opened up new possibilities for her. Delinda and Marty’s love of dancing lead them to taking Western dance classes. They loved their Monday Date Night and their group of friends at Absolute Dance in Lubbock. De and Marty attended as many Western Swing events as possible, and the San Angelo Cowboy Gathering was one of their favorites. They loved to dance, but really loved the people they met and the friendships they cultivated. Delinda never met a stranger and lit up every room she was in. She was loved dearly by her family, friends and community.
Delinda was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie Cecil and Linda Jackson; her paternal grandparents, Fred and Margaret Jackson; and her maternal grandparents, Clovis and Polly Myrick.
Delinda is survived by her husband, Marty; daughters Ashley (Lupe) Lopez of Abernathy and Delaney Lucke of Lubbock; grandson Holden Lopez of Abernathy; brother Brad (Tali) Jackson of Floydada; brother-in-law Joe (Mae) Lucke of Abilene; sister-inlaw Delores (Lynn) Lawhon of College Station; nephews Thomas Lucke of Eula, Geoffrey (Deidra) Lucke of Venus, and Jaden (Kelsey) Green of Floydada; nieces Cami (Phillip) Bethancourt of College Station, Michaela (Thomas) Adams of Spur, and Kailee Jackson of Houston; aunt Joellen Myrick of Floydada; and uncle Donnie (Greta) Myrick of Spearville, KS.
