The Floydada softball team finished the regular season with a flourish, notching twin triumphs against Lockney in final tune-ups before beginning the playoffs. The Lady Winds got off to a great start with eight runs in the first inning of last Tuesday’s opener and coasted to a 23-8 victory on the road.

A decisive two-game series against cross-county rival Lockney may not have gone its way, but the Floydada baseball team is planning to finish the regular season on a strong note. “I thought we played pretty well last Tuesday at their place,” head coach Danny Brittain said.

In a two-game softball showdown that lived up to advance expectations, Floydada and Sundown gave hometown fans plenty to cheer with each claiming a walk-off victory. The Lady Winds rallied from three runs down going into their half of the fourth inning before pushing two runs across in the bottom of the seventh to secure an 11-10 victory Saturday.
