1944–2025
John David Turner passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Plainview, Texas, on February 5, 1944, to the late John and Margie (Jones) Turner.
Mr. Turner grew up in Rock Creek, where he attended Silverton High School. During his lifespan he was a farmer/rancher most of his life and later became a truck driver/shop owner.
He is survived by his children: three daughters: Loretta (Mark) Nutt of Earth, Texas; Amy (Shawn) Dominey of Spur, Texas; Carolyn Turner of Girard, Texas; and one son, David Turner, of Lockney, Texas; his brothers and sistersin- law Guinn (Rhonda) Turner of Leakey, Texas and Doug (Karen) Turner of Lubbock Texas; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was proceeded in by death by two brothers and two sisters-in-laws: Donald Ray (Leila Mae) Turner and Sammy (Rita) Turner.
We would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Mangold Memorial, UMC Cancer Center, Covenant Healthcare and Calvert Home Health/ Hospice and many others.
Following dad’s wishes of being donated to Texas Tech Anatomical Sciences Will Body Program, he will be cremated.
Memorial Services will be held later this spring.
