Faye Bertrand, age 99, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Lockney, Texas. She was just shy of her 100th birthday by nine months.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Lakeview Cemetery, Floyd County.

Visitation was held at 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral of Floydada.

Everybody was invited to the Floydada Methodist Church for refreshments and fellowship following the graveside services.

Faye was born to Bert and Maggie Battey October 16, 1924. She grew up on the family farm in the Lakeview community south of Floydada. She rode her horse, as the neighbor kids did, to the Lakeview School, attending through eighth grade; then she graduated high school in the big city of Floydada.

Following graduation, she soon married her sweetheart, William Bertrand. They made their first home in Laredo, Texas, while he continued pilot training for the Army Air Corps and World War II. Following the war, she and Willie made their home in Floyd County, farming and ranching.

Faye was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. There were always home-cooked meals, birthday celebrations, and Christmas Eve get-togethers at her home.

She was an active member of the Methodist Church, worked at Spirit of Sharing many years, and loved her Joker Group and coffee friends. She and Willie loved to dance and socialize with their fun group of Floydada friends. They enjoyed traveling in their RV—to the Texas coast in the winter and the Colorado mountains in the summer. Faye and Willie both said they lived in the best of times.

A few years after Willie died, Faye moved to the Bee Hive Assisted Living Center in Floydada. The staff there filled her last years with love, fun activities, and security. Her family cannot express enough how grateful they are for their loving care.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings.

She is survived by children Ronald and Betty Bertrand of Lubbock, Randy and Connie of Floydada, and Martin and Jill Warren of Floydada; six grandkids; and ten great-grandchildren scattered around the states.
