Clyde Walker, Sr., age 73, of Lockney, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

A wake will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Lockney, with special words from children/grandchildren starting at 6 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Lockney Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.

The third of four children, Clyde Walker was born on April 22, 1950 in Plainview, Texas, to Lois Mosely and Lawrence Walker.

Clyde lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to his country and community. He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his five children and a host of grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren who will forever hold his memory dear.

Clyde attended then-segregated Booker T. Washington School before being transferred to Plainview High School, where he would graduate in 1968. Clyde was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the United States Army as an ammunition specialist from 1969 to 1971 in Okinawa, Japan, demonstrating courage and commitment to his fellow soldiers and nation. He later married Maryland Walker. They would spend 43 years together. Clyde continued to work and serve his community by being the musician as well as Bible study teacher at church and working at the local housing authority as the maintenance technician.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Clyde was a devoted family man, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his genuine compassion for others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois Mosley and Lawrence Walker; his son, James Louis Walker; and his additional child, Shanequa Wilson.

In addition to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Clyde is survived by his five children, DeShelia Walker of Lubbock, Jacqueline Coleman of Oklahoma, Aneatria Johnson of Indiana, Clyde Walker, Jr., of Lockney, and Vanessa Walker-Lee of Lubbock, and his additional child, LaJohntae English of Plainview. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
