Amelia Garza Mercado, age 91, of Floydada, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada. Interment followed at the Floydada Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. through 8 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Amelia was born on April 6, 1932 in Falfurrias, Texas, to Maximilian and Paula Garza. She was born a twin to Maria Adalia Garza.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maximilian and Paula Garza; her husband, Hector G. Mercado; a daughter, Maria Elena Johnston; and her twin sister, Maria Adalia Garza.
Those left to cherish the wonderful memory of Amelia are her seven children, Roel Mercado (Elza) of San Angelo, Gloria Enriquez (Armando) of Floydada, Reynaldo Mercado (Alamar) of Lockney, Hector Mercado, Jr. (Marta) of Lockney, Sophia Roy (Alan) of Edinburg, Elsa Clossey (Zane) of Kyle, Technical Sergeant Andrew Scott Mercado (Zulema) of United Kingdom, and a son-in-law, Johnny Johnston of Floydada. She was graced with 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
