1935–2026
A.C. Pratt, age 91, longtime resident of Floydada, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Floydada.
The family was to receive visitors in the First Baptist Fellowship Hall from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. before services.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
AC Pratt was born on February 9, 1935, at his parents’ home in the Campbell community of Floyd County, Texas. He was welcomed into the family by his three older sisters and his parents, Henry Frank and Laura Agatha Singletary Pratt.
AC graduated from Floydada High School in 1953. He was drafted into the Army and stationed in Korea. While en route, he skipped Christmas Day in 1955 as his transport ship crossed the International Date Line. He always said that Christmas dinner was still delicious!
When he returned home, AC married Beth Crawford on June 3, 1957.
AC was a talented carpenter and wood craftsman. He and his father built the couple’s first home. He was a stickler for detail and meticulous in all his work.
AC was a devoted church member, husband, father, farmer and community member.
He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Floydada and served as a deacon for 56 years. He served his church in many capacities, including as a church trustee, chairman of the finance team, member of several ministerial search teams, and Sunday school teacher. He was loved and respected by many ministers, staff members and church members.
AC had a great love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That love has been passed on to his sons, granddaughters and great-grandsons. This is our Pop’s greatest accomplishment.
AC was a thoughtful steward of the land. He was as meticulous in his farming as he was in his woodworking.
He served on a number of boards, including Farm Bureau and Floydada Coop Gin.
AC built his oldest granddaughters a beautiful dollhouse— a true work of art. When his youngest granddaughter came along, he became her most reliable babysitter, always available with “too many” jelly beans and trips to the ice cream parlor.
AC was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Elsie, Eva Nell and Francis; and his beloved oldest son, Russ Pratt.
He is survived by his wife, Beth; his daughter-in-law, Robin, of Lubbock, Texas; his sons, Kerry (Bobbi) of Floydada and Robert (Isabel) of Lubbock; his granddaughters, Lin Pratt Leffel (Chris) of Winter Garden, Florida, Megan Pratt Shiek (Matt) of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Addison Pratt of Plainview, Texas; and his four cherished great-grandsons, Connor and Logan Leffel and Joshua and Caleb Shiek.
