Peggy Sanders, age 95, passed away on July 16, 2023 in Crosbyton.

A graveside service was held at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 in the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada.

Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Peggy was born August 28, 1927 in Turkey, Texas, to Velmer and Thelma (Lyles) Meacham. She graduated from Turkey High School in 1945.

She married Raldo Beal James in February of 1946, and they were together until his passing in February of 1975. During that time, Peggy mainly worked as a farmer’s wife and raised her children. When her children started school, Peggy went back to school and earned her cosmetology certification and began to work as a hairstylist. She even owned and operated her own salon, Peggy’s Boutique, in Floydada for many years.

Peggy then married Denzil Sanders in 1981, but he also preceded her in death. She retired from her career in 1987. Peggy enjoyed many hobbies and activities like gardening, fly fishing, and telling jokes around the campfire.

She was a member of the City Park Church of Christ in Floydada.

Peggy was preceded in death by both of her husbands, four brothers and a sister.

Those left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her children, Jimmy (Cyndi) James of Oologah, Oklahoma, Terry (Connie) James of Cleveland, Texas, Jody (Jacque) James of Floydada, and Jamie (Don) Bradford of Giddings, Texas; nine grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat grandchild.
