State sales tax revenues $3.93B in December

AUS T I N— Te x a s Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.93 billion in December, 10.5 percent more than in December 2021. The majority of December sales tax revenue is based on sales made in November and remitted to the agency in December.

Floyd commissioners thank sheriff’s office on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

The Floyd County Commissioners Court met on Monday, Jan. 9. As one of the opening items, Commissioner Nathan Johnson reminded the court that it was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and he thanked the sheriff’s department for their service.

Lockney, Texas, native Wade Jackson, district attorney for the 110th District Court, last week announced his resignation midway through his second four-year term.
Jackson told the Hesperian-Beacon he was stepping down for personal family reasons.

The Longhorns hosted the Winds in what appeared to be a back-andforth game in the first quarter. That is until the Whirlwinds settled in and outscored the Longhorns for the rest of the game. Floydada’s Abran Castillo led all scorers for the evening.

of Lockney ginned their one millionth bale of cotton in Lockney on December 5, 2022 at approximately 9:40 p.m. The cotton was grown by Mark and Kelley McCormick of Floydada; Delta Pine 1822 XF was the variety harvested.

Their schedule started things off in Lockney, hosting the Floydada Whirlwinds and Lady Winds at the beginning of the week, and finished in Ralls on Friday.
