Whirlwinds fall to New Home in hard-fought game, 34–20

Body The Floydada Whirlwinds host New Home at Tyer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 17. Floydada fell to 1–3 on the season with a 34–20 loss. The Whirlwinds totaled 256 yards of offense, which included 229 passing yards.

Floydada’s first-ever homecoming parade a huge success

Body Floydada Whirlwind Booster Club held its first-ever homecoming parade on Tuesday, Sept. 7. The parade kicked off Spirit Week which was held around the square in downtown Floydada. Several vendors were also set up around the square.

Longhorns gain strength in second half to win over Boys Ranch 31–14

Body The Longhorns faced off with the Roughriders from Boys Ranch in their most recent non-district contest. The energy was electric off of the Horns’ recent Floyd County Championship win over the Whirlwinds. Offensively the Longhorns struggled in the first half of play.

South Plains College’s Youth Live Ensemble starts Sept. 14

Body South Plains College’s Creative Arts Department will offer the SPC Youth Live Ensemble course for young musicians ages 10 to 16. The course will run from Sept. 14 through Dec. 7 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost of the course is $195.
