Durrel Wayne Fortenberry, age 91, of Lockney, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
He was born on September 24, 1934 to Robin and Ruth (Gill) Fortenberry.
In keeping with his spirit of generosity, Durrel donated his body to science at TTUHSC, hoping that his contribution would benefit others with their research.
He will be missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Massie Activity Center in Floydada, Texas (513 W. Georgia Street).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cal Farley Boy’s Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101, an organization that exemplifies Durrel’s commitment to his community and his desire to share with those in need.
