Randall “Randy” Robert Ward, 68, of Lockney, Texas passed away in Lubbock, Texas on Monday, December 29, 2023, surrounded by his family.
Randy was born in Floydada, Texas, on October 29, 1955, to Robert Lee and Linda Sue Bullock Ward.
Randy grew up near the small farming community of Dougherty, Texas, and it was those early friendships with the people of Dougherty that would last throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1974.
Randy was an outgoing, happy and charismatic man and made friends easily throughout his life. His early years of riding dirt bikes with his family and friends continued into adulthood as he rode his Gold Wing motorcycle alongside friends to Glacier National Park. He often spoke of that particular trip as he considered it to be one of his greatest adventures. He had a love of the mountains, the outdoors, and sitting by the lake while fishing for hours. Randy loved visiting with family and friends and always had great stories to share about his many adventures, experiences, and travels. Throughout Randy’s career he traveled across the United States but spoke of Oregon most often as his favorite place and had hoped to live there someday.
Randy will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Our wonderful memories of Randy will sustain us and brighten our days as we learn to accept our incredible loss.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Ward, his grandparents, Mac and Marguerite Ward and Robert Cullen “Cull” and Willie Merle “Bill” Bullock.
Randy is survived by his wife, Donna Ward, of Lockney; his mother, Linda Sue Ward, of Floydada; his sister, Rhonda Mayo, and her husband, Mark Mayo, of Lubbock; his three children, Rebecca Hardage and her husband, Devin, Brandon Ward and his wife, Nancy, and Tara Camp and her husband, Stuart; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Ensler and her husband, Dave, and Sarah Smyrl; five grandchildren, three step-grandsons and two great-grandchildren; his niece and nephew as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Randy’s last wishes were to help others by donating his body to MedCure in hopes that medical research will find a cure for diabetes and heart disease.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. Donations may be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, P. O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174-0001.
