Quail surveys raise expectations for another quality hunting season

Body Quail hunting season kicked off on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Texas, and the annual Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) roadside survey revealed some encouraging population numbers heading into opening day.

SPEC Youth tour applications open Nov. 10

Body High school juniors and seniors compete for a chance to win an allexpense- paid trip to Washington, D.C. The students complete an application, essay questions and virtual interview.

Floydada and Lockney schools honor veterans Nov. 11

Body FLOYDADA CISD A school program honoring U..S military veterans will be presented at Floydada Collegiate High School, 215 N White St., at 9 a.m. Nov. 11. All veterans and their families are invited to attend the Veterans Day assembly in the high school auditorium.

Lockney council appoints KayCee Thiebaud interim city manager

Body KayCee Thiebaud was appointed by the Lockney City Council to serve as the interim city manager for the City of Lockney for the next nine months, effective Oct. 21, 2025. She has stepped in to take on the role after city manager Buster Poling passed away in late September.
