Body D & J Gin in Lockney ginned the first bale of cotton in Floyd County for the season on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2021 at approximately 10:30 a.m. The cotton was grown by Jimmy Collins and produced on the Wisner place, located near the Lake View area west of Petersburg.

Operation Christmas Child shoebox starts with local volunteers

Body Floydada Baptist Church of Floydada has been the collection site for Operation Christmas Child for the past 12 to 16 years. Each year they gather supplies such as clothes, hygiene material and school supplies for kids around the world ages 2–14 that cannot afford them.
