The Floydada Whirlwinds hosted Bovina last week for their first game of the season. A new era began on the Whirlwinds’ sideline as new head coach Jeff Smith made his Floydada coaching debut.Bovina scored the game’s first two touchdowns and led 14-0 entering the second quarter.

Floyd County SO continues to participate in STEP program

During the month of August, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office participated in STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program), conducting a total of 168 traffic stops and documenting more than 183 traffic violations, including violations involving commercial motor vehicles.

Mike Green is celebrating his 10-year anniversary with Lighthouse Electric Cooperative on September 1 by retiring the same day. He began a career that spans across four decades and two states in 1996 at an electric coop in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
