Lockney band advances to State for 3rd year in a row

Body STATE-BOUND The Lockney Longhorn Marching Band isgoing to state for the 3rd year in a row. The band will leave Lockney for San Antonio Sunday, Nov. 2, will practice Monday, compete on Tuesday, and return Wednesday.

Whirlwinds fall to Olton 56-0, shift focus to #9 New Home

Body The Floydada Whirlwinds hosted the Olton Mustangs for their first district game of the season. The Whirlwinds entered the game hoping to end their five-game losing streak. A victory over the Mustangs would give Floydada great positioning for their push toward the playoffs.

Body Congratulations go to Duncan Elementary School’s first six-weeks perfect attendance bike winners, Brynlee Beedy (above, left) and Kash Velasquez (above, right). Each six weeks, students with perfect attendance are entered in a drawing for a chance at a new bike!

Floydada varsity boys XC team wins back-to-back district title, regional bound

Body Both Floydada varsity cross country teams, boys and girls, are headed to regionals in cross country. They competed Monday, Oct. 6 in the district meet held at the Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

LOCKNEY BAND HONORS The Lockney Longhorn Band brought home two more awards this season. 1st Place in 2A, and Outstanding Small School Brass (1A-3A) from the historic Tumbleweed Marching Band Festival in Denver City. The Longhorn Band scored higher than all 1A, 2A, 3A, and a couple of 4A schools and ended up in the top exhibition slot that evening -- which ended up being a much stronger performance.
