Floydada to host 2A-District 4 track meet this week

Body The Floydada Whirlwinds and Lady Winds were scheduled to host the District 4-2A track meet on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10. Floydada was scheduled to compete against teams from Abernathy, Post, New Deal, New Home, Tahoka and Ralls.

Lady Horns dominate over Claude in 15-1 win; Longhorns win big over Memphis, 19-2

Body The Lockney Lady Horns continued their stretch to start the week with a dominant 15-1 win over Claude, using timely hitting and aggressive base-running to take control early.

Whirlwinds open district with back-to-back victories

Body The Floydada Whirlwinds hosted Memphis on March 24 for their district opener. The Whirlwinds’ last game came against New Deal on March 17. They fell to the Lions 16-1.The Whirlwinds dominated the game from the opening pitch.

#2 Floydada Lady Winds defeat Lubbock Christian, Clarendon

Body The #2 Floydada Lady Winds hosted the Lubbock Christian Lady Eagles on March 24. The Lady Winds paused their district schedule to play their penultimate non-district game of the season.The Lady Winds controlled the game in the first inning.

Body FCISD TENNIS Congratulations go to the Floydada tennis team, which competed last week at the South Plains College tennis tournament in Levelland. Hiram Lopez took 3rd place in singles, Braeden Ramirez took 1st place in singles, and Natalie Garza took 2nd place in singles.

Whirlwinds and Lady Winds impress at Abernathy’s A-Town Relays

Body The Floydada Whirlwinds and Lady Winds traveled to Abernathy March 27 to compete in the A-Town Relays. Floydada competed against teams from Abernathy, Lockney, Lubbock Roosevelt, Plains, Ropes, and Slaton.Varsity Boys• Luis Lopez finished in 12th place in the 100m dash.
