John W. “Dub” Dipprey, age 88, of Lockney, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 2, 2026, in Lockney. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the West College and 3rd Street Church of Christ in Lockney.
Family interment will be held at a later date at the Lockney Cemetery.
Service arrangements are under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home (Lockney).
John (Dub) was born on October 10,1937 in Seymour, Texas, to John (Boots) and Daisy (Welch) Dipprey. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1956.
He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Doylene Harrison, on December 14, 1956. Dub spent 43 years at First National Bank in Lockney. He started just after high school and worked until retirement in 1999. After his years at the bank, he ran his snow-cone shop in the summer and helped Doylene as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Lockney. He also worked for the Lockney Cemetery Association.
He was a big family man, and his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. He loved to grow vegetables and give them away. He also loved to go to the lake to fish. Although his “mystery exotic dishes” sometimes failed to impress, he was an excellent cook.
Dub was a member of the West Side Church of Christ in Lockney.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doylene (Harrison) Dipprey; his mom and dad; his brother Charles (Betty) Dipprey; his sister Coleen (Richard) Mahagan; his in-laws Doyle and Velma (Carthel) Harrison; and a granddaughter, Jana Graves.
Those left to cherish Dub’s memory are daughter Tina (Glen) Graves of Lockney; his sons, Todd (Nancy) Dipprey of Shallowater and Tyke (Connie) Dipprey of Plainview; grandchildren Ryan, Chase and Trey (Shay) Graves, Tyler (Erin) Dipprey, Wesley (Brooke) Dipprey, Tyka (Landon) McClellan and Conner (Mikeilah) Dipprey; 12 great-grandchildren, Falyn, Duke and Sophie Graves, Scarlett and Dax Dipprey, Knox, Sully and Ace Dipprey, Winston and Daisy McClellan, and Stetson and Everett Dipprey.
