George Sanchez, Sr., age 87, of Floydada, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2023 at Templo Getsemani Assembly of God Church.
Interment followed at the Floydada Cemetery. Visitation was held from 12 noon to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2023 in the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
George was born February 22, 1936 to Evaristo and Juanita (Martinez) Sanchez in Asherton, Texas.
He worked in the agriculture industry all his life. George had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed listening to music, Little Joe being his favorite. He loved being outside and enjoying the sun, playing his guitar, and watching wrestling and The Three Stooges. George also enjoyed watching movies, one of his favorites being The Urban Cowboy. But perhaps George’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Santos Sanchez; three daughters, Erlinda Ascencio, Sandra Sanchez and Maria Guadalupe Sanchez; a grandson, George Sanchez, III; and one sister and his parents.
Those left to cherish George’s memory are his children, Oscar Sanchez, Sr. (son), Juanita Sanchez (daughter) and husband, Juan, David Sanchez (son) and wife, Minerva, Juan Sanchez (son), Patricia Sanchez (daughter) and husband, Miguel, and Jorge Sanchez (son); 20 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
