Third special session focuses on redistricting

Body AUSTIN—The Texas Legislature convened Monday for its third special session with the focus on redrawing political boundaries for House and Senate districts, as well as for the state’s congressional seats and for the State Board of Education.

Flags flown at Floydada ‘Y’ in memory of Sept. 11

Body On Wednesday, Sept. 8 the Floydada Girl Scout Troop 6210 put flags out on the “Y” in in memory of Sept. 11, 2001. Both the girl scouts and Floydada Boy Scout Troop 357 are taking donations to purchase new flags and new t-shirts have been purchased for each scout and leader.

Body A group of Floyd County citizens met on May 25, 1971, to discuss the possibility of organizing a museurr. They met again on June 7th and then during their next meeting on June 28tn the first Board of Directors were named for the Floyd County Historical Museum.

Tribute ceremony commemorating 20th anniversary of 9/11 scheduled for Sept. 11

Body PLAINVIEW—A tribute ceremony commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks will be held on Saturday, Sept.11 at 8:45 a.m. at the flagpole at Kidsville Park (3400 4th Street, Plainview). The public is encouraged to attend.
