Body Voters began showing up at polling places on Valentine’s Day to cast ballots in partisan primary elections—and some were caught by surprise, by the number of races at every level through statewide and, on the Republican side, 10 nonbinding questions regarding policy matters.

Mail-in ballot applications rejected at high rate

Body AUSTIN—Mail-in ballot applications for the March 1 primary are being rejected by almost 40% — largely because of a missing ID number, which is now required after a new voting bill passed the Legislature last year.

Lucking out during Landon

Body About a half an hour before sunrise Sunday, the City of Spur posted on its Facebook page that a main water valve on West Harris Street was leaking, and that the city’s water had to be shut down. Whether winter storm Landon was a factor in the leak is yet to be known.
