Floydada’s Bob Dempsey defies odds in becoming Major General

    A challenge to 1960 Floydada High School graduate Bob Ed Dempsey was the start of a productive military career leading to Major General in the Air Force. A high-ranking county official refused to provide a recommendation for Dempsey’s nomination to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. The official’s rationale was that no student from Floydada High School had a chance to get into “that place.”
