In this pre-settlement time, before the coming of the white mad, the Comanches, the Kiowas, and the Quahada Indians hunted the mighty buffalo over the Great Staked Plains. During favorable spring seasons and in summers the Indians drifted from camp to camp, always tracking the huge buffalo. These animals were life itself to the nomadic Indian who derived his clothing, food, and shelter from them.
