Body Coach J.R. Compton’s team lost out on a playoff spot but won big in the self-respect column in last week’s 31-25 victory over Olton. Trailing 13-0 early in the game, the Whirlwinds refused to quit against the Mustangs, who finish as the District 2-2A’s runnerup behind New Deal.

Floydada Futures 14u softball team go 6-0, win ‘Strike Out Cancer’ Amarillo Softball Tournament

Body The Floydada Futures 14-and-under softball team competed in and won the “Strike Out Cancer” Softball Tournament held at the Rick Klein Sports Complex in Amarillo on Saturday, Oct. 14 and Sunday, Oct. 15. The team won six straight games and came home with the championship rings.
