The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and the Floydada Chamber of Commerce joined forces with the Serrato Sisters to welcome residents in a family-friendly outdoor community event at 214 S Main St., Friday, July 4. The Serrato Sisters hosted a free pancake breakfast for the 4th of July in collaboration with local businesses. A hot breakfast including pancakes, scrambled eggs and more was provided from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. while supplies lasted. After the pancake breakfast, there were vendors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual Freedom Parade began at 2 p.m. Scooters, bicycles, ATVs, trucks, cars and tractors will all be welcome to participate and qualify for prizes.

The Covenant Health West Texas Family Medicine clinic in Floydada, which had been acquired by Covenant in April 2021, closed July 10. Covenant said the decision was made following careful consideration and efforts last year to sustain the clinic's operations The Harmony Plains Singing School, which first met in 1964, gathered again in Cone, July 20–25.
