Body STAFF REPORTSLast weekend, Lockney’s Old Maroon Saloon invited locals to its first Saturday night of karaoke.This is a new event for the establishment, and owner Dustin Huggins said he plans to try it out and gauge interest over the next few weeks.

from Floyd County were selected to participate in the 2025 ASCO AllStar Classic football game. Masen Rehkopf from Lockney High School, and Tyrean Henderson and Sergio Valadez from Floydada High School, participated in the game held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Lowrey Field in Lubbock. The game was a fundraiser for athletes who have suffered permanent injuries while playing football. The Red team won the game with a final score of 42-21. | CERVANTES PHOTOGRAPHY

Body LIZ ADAMS | HESPERIAN-BEACON Both the Floydada city swimming pool and the Lockney swimming pool are now open for the summer.The pool in Floydada opened May 25 and will be open from noon to 5 p.m. every day except Mondays until the end of the season.
