2025 Community Cleanup in Lockney June 18-21

Body The City of Lockney is hosting its 2025 Community Cleanup June 18–21. There will be a dumping site located at the old Webster gas stion on the 600 block of South Main Street.The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No dumping will be allowed when the site is unattended.

Floydada resident claims $1 Million scratch ticket prize

Body AUSTIN — A Floydada resident claimed a top prize winning ticket worth $1 million in the Texas Lottery scratch ticket game Million Dollar Loteria, according to the Texas Lottery Commission June 17. The ticket was purchased at Hop In #2, located at 102 S. 2nd St., in Floydada.

Floydada VFD shooting for new air packs: gun raffle

Body The Floydada Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a gun raffle, earning money to go towards the purchase of new air packs. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Floydada VFD.Tickets are $20 each, and there will be five drawings.

Floyd County Memorial Library reading program continues summer-long

Body The Golden Ticket 25 Book Summer Reading Challenge has begun at the Floyd County Memorial Library. Children in grades 1-12 started signing up and checking out books June 1 at both the Floydada and Lockney branches, but there is still time to join the fun.

Body PET VACCINATION CLINIC There will be a pet vaccination clinic Saturday, June 21 at the Floydada Animal Shelter, 215 N. Wall Street, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. There will be special discounted rates for vaccines for dogs and cats, and $5 city tag registrations can be purchase.

Three from Lockney participate in American Legion Boys State

Body Three seniors from Lockney High School’s Class of 2026—Daniel Alvarado, Nickolas Cervantes and Adrian Jimenez—were recently given the opportunity to participate in the esteemed American Legion Boys State program in Austin.
