The Quitaque Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 3 in the northeast corner of Floyd County, approximately 1 mile north of the Fairmont Baptist Church.The landowner, Larry McCaslin, was cutting metal pipe for a new barbed wire fence when sparks ignited in a nearby grass field.
