Legislators begin filing bills ahead of session

Body Texas legislators are off to the races, filing more than 850 bills on Monday, the first day of filing season for the 88th session, which begins Jan. 10.

A great year for football

Body Our three newspapers cover eight counties and 10 school districts. That means 10 football teams, and 2022 has been chock full of exciting stories across the region. For The Texas Spur, both Spur and Jayton made the playoffs again this year.

Panic buttons, locked doors for Texas schools

Body FOR TEXAS PRESS ASSOCIATION Texas public schools would have to install panic buttons in classrooms and ensure all doors and windows are locked and monitored under new proposed safety standards released last week by the Texas Education Agency.
