Wayne Deen Braly, born June 4, 1946 in Tulia, Swisher County, Texas, to Robert Huston “Huse” Braly and Joye Bunella Mills Braly, died in Kingsland, Texas, on Monday, May 20, 2024. Deen was raised on the family farm south of Tulia. At the age of five, in 1951, Deen—along with his four siblings—was struck with polio and spent that Christmas in the Plainview Hospital.

He attended Tulia public schools, graduating from Tulia High School in 1964, and he attended Trinity University for three years.

After farming a few years in Swisher County, He moved in 1975 to Floydada, where he lived until retiring to Burnet County, Texas, in 1998.

At the time of his death, he was a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Marble Falls, where he loved singing in the church choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Joy Braly Crager and Bobbie Ann Braly Smetherman; and two brothers, Jack Ray Braly and Sam W. Braly.

He is survived by a niece, Jill Smetherman Rehder of San Bruno, California, and longtime friend C.J. Payne of Kingsland, Texas.

Any services will be scheduled at a later date and his cremated remains will be placed in the Braly Family Plot in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia Texas. His cremation is being overseen by All Faiths Funeral Services, Austin, Texas.
