Tomas Hernández was born September 25, 1936 in Navasota, Texas.

Tomas, an honest and fair carpenter and roofer by trade, was never afraid of a hard day’s work, meticulous in the outcome of every job he completed. Tomas was able to help build the additional building for Getsemaní Church and did it with love and passion. Tomas was blessed with a beautiful voice and loved to sing his favorite songs, country and Spanish…and was quick to question with a song verse…his own special sense of humor.
A devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On his personal time, he loved to play poker and dominoes with his friends and he knew what was in the dealer’s hands. He also enjoyed playing pool downtown Floydada with his friends at the pool hall. Tomas and his wife, Virginia, were members at Getsemaní Assembly.

We are all going to miss Dad… however, he fought the good fight till the end and we know he’s in a better place resting with
our Lord and Savior. Tomas was proceeded in death by his devoted wife, Virginia M, Hernández; father, Apolonio G. Hernández; daughters Norberta H. Flores and Angelita H. Ramirez; and sons Norberto A. Hernández and Lorenzo A. Hernández. He is survived by his children Diana Mendoza and late Raul Mendoza of Floydada; Antonio and Gloria Ortiz of Abernathy; Tomas Hernández, Jr. of Floydada; Joe and Norma Hernández of Floydada; Simon Hernández of Midland; and Mary and Daniel Soto of Floydada.
