FLOYDADA—Mary Elizabeth Sims, age 76, of Floydada passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Primitive Baptist Church in Floydada. Don Martin and Kelly Vandygriff officiated.
Interment followed at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada.
Visitation was held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Elizabeth was born on February 1, 1946 to the late Charlie E. and Mary Martha (Smith) Wright. Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Floyd County. She attended elementary and middle school at Lakeview. In 1960, she began her freshman year at Floydada High School, where she graduated from in 1964.
Elizabeth met the late Carroll Jake Sims in May of 1968, and they married August 30, 1968. They were married for 39 years.
She was an active member of the Girl Scouts of America where she was a troop leader for 20-plus years. She was also active in helping out with the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department. She and Carroll owned and operated the “Boot Shop,” Dyson’s Boots and Circle S belts. She also worked at the parent adolescent center for 20 years.
While a troop leader she also spent summers at the camp in Crosbyton, Camp Rio Blanco, as the arts and craft director for over 10 years. Elizabeth was a loving, kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mary Wright, and her husband, Carroll Sims.
She is survived by her children Randell and Starla Sims of Floydada and Therese and Charles Adamson of Abilene; her sisters; her grandchildren, Connor sims, Tim Campbell, Tyler Campbell, Augustus Adamson; and her two greatgrandchildren.
