Ora “Laveta” Morren, age 82, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025 in Lubbock, Texas.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025 at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada, Texas.
Visitation was held prior to the service from 10 a.m.–12 noon at the First Baptist Church in Floydada.
Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Ora Laveta Jones Morren was born Oct. 17, 1942 in Lockney, Texas, to Frank Garner Jones and Hazel Orr Jones.
She graduated Lockney High School in 1961. On Sept. 3, 1961 she married Freddie Morren in Lockney, Texas.
She worked for Floydada Independent School District from August 1974 to March 2011 as a teacher assistant and later as a secretary at R. C. Andrews Elementary and at the central office.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Morren, and her siblings, Flora Lee Jack, F. G. Jones, and Wanda Webb.
She is survived by her children, Melissa and Bruce McCain of Cypress, Texas, Wayne and Angel Morren of Floydada, Texas, David and Beth Ann Morren of Rockwall, Texas, and Denise and Rex Holcombe of Floydada, Texas; her grandchildren, Landry Morren, Kaylee Morren, Lauren McCain, Luke Holcombe and McKinzie Morren; and her siblings, Lynna Davis of Longwood, Florida, and Othelia Bass of Amarillo, Texas.
