TEMPLE—Larry Garvin Beedy, age 73, passed away at the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas, on Monday October 31, 2022. Larry was born in Floydada, Texas on July 4, 1949 to William Garvin Beedy and Virginia Jane Frizell. Larry graduated from Lockney High School in 1967 and attended college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, and Sul Ross at Alpine, Texas. Larry joined the Army in 1969 and proudly served his country in Vietnam, where he was awarded multiple medals for meritorious service, heroism and valor as well as for being wounded in combat. These included the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and multiple Army Commendation medals.

After serving his country, Larry farmed in Floyd County, Texas, for several years; worked for Browning Seed in Plainview, Texas; and then became a seedsman for DeKalb Seed in Dumas, Texas, before finally settling in San Saba, Texas. In San Saba, he owned a successful pest control business from 1994 until retiring in 2019.

Larry was avid hunter and he also loved fishing, gardening, and watching baseball and football, as well as taking cruises and visiting casinos.

He was preceded in death by his father, Garvin Beedy, and his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Gayle, of 32 years; two daughters, Jodi Cunningham and husband, Brian, of Lovington, New Mexico, and Sara Beedy of Waleska, Georgia; two sons, Michael Beedy and wife, Cheri, of Thornton, Colorado, and Chad Beedy and wife, Kyla, of Amarillo, Texas; two stepsons, Dennis Sawyer of Cherokee, Texas, and Dane Sawyer and wife, Jessica, of Cherokee, Texas; his mother, Jane Dickson, and husband, Bob, of Plainview, Texas; three sisters, Resa Trout and husband, David, of Amarillo, Texas, Tonya Mahagan and husband, Ronnie, of Plainview, Texas, and Mitzi Campbell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; eight granddaughters; four grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Blaylock Funeral Chapel in San Saba, Texas.

A Color Guard ceremony and burial will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
