FLOYDADA—James Acie Johnson of Floydada passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Funeral services were held at 2 pm., Friday, October 21, 2022 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Interment followed at the Floydada Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 21, 2022. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

James Acie Johnson was born on February 18, 1928 to James Luther Johnson and Zela Yocham. He served in the military in the U.S. Navy from August 24, 1950 to June 16, 1954 while serving on the USS Boxer aircraft carrier in Korea.

He later on met and married his first wife, Kay Stephens, on December 14, 1956 in Clovis, New Mexico. After Kay passed away on September 28, 2005, he later met and married Mava Peterson on August 31, 2006 in Lovington, New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Zela Johnson; his first wife, Kay Stephens; two daughters, Bonnie Rutherford and Sheryl Bennett; and his siblings, Imogene Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Carl Johnson, Ottis Johnson, Otis Johnson, Windle Johnson, and Ebal Johnson Curb.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memory are his wife, Mava Johnson; his two sons, Blain Johnson and wife, Goria, of Roswell, New Mexico, and Steve Johnson of Lockney, Texas; a daughter, Jackie Blackerby and husband, Kerry, of Canyon, Texas; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and siblings Junior Johnson of Lofkin, Texas, and Pete Johnson of Spring, Texas.
