Gaynell Mitchell, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel in Waco.

Graveside service was held at 12:30 p.m. (MST), Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Lovington, N.M.

Gaynell Holladay Mitchell was born March 13, 1939 in Floydada, Texas, to Bill and Clorene (Young) Holladay and was raised in West Texas in a Church of Christ family. She shared a birthday with her twin sister, Juandell.

As a mother of four, Gaynell was a hard-working lady who focused on providing for her family. She worked over forty years in law enforcement as a dispatcher. She was a member of the law enforcement teams in Farwell, Texas, and Muleshoe, Texas.

Gaynell was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Clorene Holladay; brother, Donnie Holladay; and son Kelly Reese Mitchell.

She is survived by her children Duane Mitchell, Teresa Taylor and husband, Mark, and Britt Mitchell and wife, Joretta; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Brandi, Briana, Corey, Brooklynn and Brina Mae; ten great-grandchildren, Aiyana, Lilly, Michael, Elijah, Charlotte, Keller, Koda, Bradley, Ryleigh and Grayson; sisters, Juandell Blackwood and Cynthia Bryant; brother, Keith Holladay and wife Sue; and several nieces and nephews.
