Anne Marie Hale, age 85, formerly of Dougherty and Floydada, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Lubbock.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2025 at Carr’s Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Ted Wilson officiating.
Services were under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Anne Marie Cuendet was born on September 25, 1939 in Bern, Switzerland. She would later move to Geneva, where she lived and did clerical work for many years.
In 1991, while on a trip to visit her family in New Mexico, she would meet a real-life Texas cowboy, Barry Lane Hale from Floydada, Texas. The couple would wed in July 1991 in Roaring Springs. They resided for many years in the Dougherty community until Barry’s passing in 2011.
She was a kind soul to everyone she met. She was a devoted and loving wife and faithful homemaker. Anne Marie was a very accomplished individual who was fluent in many languages, including German, French, Italian and English.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Barry; and her sisters, Berne and Lausanne.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Nita Knob of Midland; nephews, Benoit and Andre Vulliet of Switzerland; nieces and nephews, Amy, Amanda, Michael and Melissa, all of Lubbock, and James, Joel and Debbie of the Austin area; brothers-in-law James Hale, Dan Hale and wife, Sharon, David Hale and wife, Priscilla, and John Hale.
