Dorothy Hooten Solomon,
91, of Lockney, Texas, was greeted by her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 14, 2024.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 18 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024 at West College and Third Church of Christ. Interment followed at the Lockney Cemetery.
Dorothy was born on October 17, 1933 to Cecil and Denvis Cox of Plainview, Texas, and she attended East Mound School through the eighth grade and graduated from Plainview High School.
On January 5, 1952 Dorothy married John L. Hooten, and they were blessed with five children. Dorothy and John L. enjoyed many years together, creating lifelong memories with their children, grandchildren and extended family until John L’s passing on April 25, 1987.
Seventeen years later, on October 6, 2004 Dorothy married C.J. “Bunk” Solomon and moved to Lubbock, Texas. Dorothy gained two daughters, Carolyn and Wanda, and a son, James. Bunk and Dorothy traveled and enjoyed each other’s company until Bunk’s passing on April 6, 2022.
Dorothy is survived by her children, three sons: Berry and Charlotte Hooten, Lonny and Karen Hooten and Kenny and Lori Hooten, all of Lockney, and two daughters, Gaylyn Brown of Amarillo and Angie and Shawn Kunselman of Lockney; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Barbara and Rex Solomon of Canyon and Cecile and Gary Leatherman of Irving, and one brother, Lynn annd Sharron Cox of Decatur.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations in Dorothy’s memory be given to Westridge Manor in Plainview Texas.
