Bobby Ray McCormick, 89, of Lockney, passed away peacefully at the BeeHive Homes at Shepherd’s Meadow assisted living facility in Floydada on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

An indoor graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., December 10, 2024 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Lockney. Family visitation will be after the brief service.

Bobby was born on June 1, 1935 to Ray and Margie McCormick. He was the oldest of three sons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents; and his two brothers, Larry and Audry.

Bobby attended school at Liberty School until the family moved to Lockney. He worked for the local grocery store during high school and after until he starting farming. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1953.

On February 20, 1953, he married Elizabeth Ann Cooper, and they were together for 70 years before her passing.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lockney. He farmed in Floyd County for over 50 years.

He enjoyed taking his family on vacations which included Red River, N.M., and Ruidoso, N.M., and trips to other locations. He also enjoyed flying his own plane, hunting and playing golf. He and Ann were avid fishermen and spent years fishing in Del Rio, Texas.

After Bobby suffered a stroke 17 years ago, his life slowed completely. In spite of his health, he truly enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Bobby is survived by his two daughters, Janet Wells and husband, Tommy, and Joann Carthel and husband, Dart; two granddaughters, Tobi Boedeker and husband, Jimmy, and Elizabeth Guerrero and husband, Joey; and four granddaughters, Alexxa Lohn, Jackie Plant, Kennedy Guerrero and Isabella Guerrero. He will be missed by friends and relatives, as well as his family.
