Isidro (Penny) Sanchez Sr., 74, of Floydada passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in Plainview, Texas.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the MooreRose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada with Joe Hernandez and Gilbert Flores officiating.

Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023 and Friday, May 12, 2023 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Isidro was born on June 5, 1948 in Beeville, Texas, to Guadalupe and Maria Sanchez.

He married Jesusa Zavala on January 6, 1968 in Floydada. They had three children. He worked doing construction and owned his own business for 40 years. He enjoyed playing music, singing, watching Westerns, and drinking coffee with his father-in-law. He also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Isidro was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1968. He was a Vietnam veteran and served until 1971 in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14).

He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Zachary Sanchez; and siblings Elvira Rodriguez, Roman Sanchez, and Ramiro Sanchez.

Isidro is survived by his wife; his children, Isidro Sanchez Jr., Eddie and Patti Sanchez, and Tammy and Victor Alaniz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Geoffrey and Sierra Sanchez, Kristan and Ben Perez, Shiana Sanchez, Chassidy Sanchez, Caitlynn Sanchez, Mercedes Alaniz, and Kailee Sanchez; and his great-grandchildren, Arielle Sanchez, Darren Pleasant, Aliyah Perez, Brandon Perez and Bee Bernal. He is also survived by his siblings Criselda and Benny Garcia, Linda Castaneda, Wally and Alicia Sanchez, Juan Sanchez, Israel and Diana Sanchez.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew him.
