LUBBOCK— Vernie Doyle Moore, Jr., age 77, of Lubbock, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada with Monty Edwards officiating.

Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2023 in the Moore-Rose Funeral Home state room in Floydada.

Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Vernie was born December 7, 1945 in Ralls, Texas, to Vernie Doyle and Sue Evelyn (Jordan) Moore.

He graduated from Floydada High School and then went on to attend Texas Tech University, where he graduated with a bachelors’ degree in agricultural science.

He married Lana Davis of Floydada, and they had three beautiful daughters. In 1991, he married Donna Barton of Matador, and they moved to Earth, Texas, where they farmed and ranched. They share six children. In 2002 Vernie and Donna moved to Lubbock where he worked as a successful farm and ranch Realtor.

Vernie was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Moore; his sister, Carolyn Moore; and his brother, Randall Moore.

Those left to cherish Vernie’s memory are his wife, Donna of Lubbock; his six children and their spouses, Leigh and Charlie Fisher of Sudan, Shayla and Eric Ally of Frisco, Brandi and Monty Edwards of Sudan, Eden and Kurt Gunzinger of Palm Coast, Florida, Burr and Angela Barton of Gruver, and Lindsey and Brandon Wing of Canyon; and his mother, Sue Moore of Lubbock, along with 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Vernie’s honor to a charity of your choice.
