Beuna Mae (Holmes) Dallas, 85, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 2 p.m. Visitation followed at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home’s Chapel of Faith, 5701 US Highway 277 S. Abilene, Texas 79606. Beuna was born on January 1, 1937 in Sand Hill, Floyd County, in the Texas panhandle, as one of five siblings to Charles Eddie Holmes and Alma Naomi Smith. She grew up in Floydada and was a popular and decorated student.

Her father, Charles Eddie Holmes, was killed in a boating accident in September of 1954 while Beuna was a senior in high school. The following year she decided to attend Abilene Christian University and met her future husband, David Dallas of Cross Plains, and they married on September 7, 1957. Beuna graduated from UT-Arlington with an accounting degree and passed all five parts of the CPA on her first try. She was a successful accountant with Sun Oil and later started a small accounting business with her sister, Sara, in Duncanville.

Beuna was an active volunteer for the City of Alvarado, the Alvarado Public Library, and the United Way of Abilene. She played bridge with the Senior Citizens Center of Abilene almost everyday.

Beuna will be remembered for her fierce love for all her friends and family, her amazing intellect, her interest in books and culture, her acceptance of all people regardless of race or religion, and her ability to be strong in the face of many adversities in her life.

Beuna was married to Lloyd Wilson of Alvarado, Texas, for many years and loved his children and grandchildren like her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, David Dallas; her daughter Dena; her brother, Chuck Holmes; and her sister, Dorothy McGinnis.

She is survived by one daughter, Danielle, and one son, John David; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sara Teague and Nancy Golden, along with many nieces and nephews.
