Eric Fierro, Jr. of Bovina, Texas passed away suddenly on August 25, 2022. He was 34 years old.

Eric Cervantez Fierro, Jr. was born on August 14, 1988 in San Angelo, Texas, son of Santa and Gilbert Garza.

He and his wife, Keyla Fierro (née Pesina), originally from Floydada, Texas, were lovingly married in Floydada in a ceremony at her parents’ home on July 30, 2016 and had three children: Caroline Arabella (5), Amaya Elise (3), and Emilia Shaylene (1 mo.)

Eric resided in Bovina, Texas, and worked as a football, basketball and track coach and history and government teacher. His latest assignment was at Bovina High School but had taught for nine years at various other high schools statewide. He was voted “Coach of the Year” during his time as head baseball coach at Winters High School. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from Angelo State University in 2013 and was a cum laude graduate of Ozona High School Class of 2006.

Eric was a loving husband and “Dada,” and his pride and joy was being a “girl dad” to his three sweet girls. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife and girls, traveling with them most recently to Colorado and the Grand Canyon. And he greatly enjoyed his home life as a father, coming home to his girls screaming for “Dada” and sharing movie nights with them. He was also a determined and goal-oriented young man, having followed closely in the footsteps of his brother and sister Derek and Erika to earn his college degree. To his mother, Santa, he was and always will be her baby.

He is survived by his wife of six wonderful years, Keyla Fierro, and young daughters Caroline, Amaya, and Emilia, of Bovina, Texas; mother and father, Santa and Gilbert Garza of Ozona; sister, Erika Fierro and her fiancé John of San Antonio; brother, Derek Fierro of San Antonio; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, who sometimes affectionately called him “Bubbles,” a nickname given to him by his closest aunt and uncle, Belia and Lalo Garza of Ozona, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Socorro and Felipe Castro and Maclovio and Anadelia Fierro, all of Ozona, Texas, and uncles Eginio Castro and Albert Ramos of Ozona, Texas.
