Max Douglas Phillips died on January 29, 2022 in Hutto, Texas. He was 67.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rebecca Ann Jordan; two sisters, Gail Phillips Barnes and Dianne Phillips Fuqua; and several nieces and nephews.
Max was born on October 15, 1954 in Matador, Texas, to Bonnarea Janell Fuqua and Henry Loyd Phillips.
Max grew up in Floydada, Texas. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1973 and Angelo State University in 1978. He taught middle school before starting a job with Halliburton in Alice, Texas. After 13 years there, he and his wife moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked for the State of Texas for 21 years.
In 1993, the couple joined the Lone Star Model A Ford Club and bought a 1928 Model A Ford Tudor Sedan nicknamed “Maggie.” Max served as tour leader for the LSMAFC for a year in 1996, the vice president in 1997, then as the president five times beginning in 1998.
In the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, Max was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He died a year later, on January 29, 2022 in Hutto, Texas. His body was donated to science.
