1930–2022
Martha Ann Gay, 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 surrounded by family in the comfort of her daughter’s home.
Ann was born in Amarillo, Texas, on July 10, 1930 to Harve and Nina Arnett.
She was a graduate of Amarillo High School and also obtained a bachelor’s degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
She married Robert Gay on March 18, 1951, and they were hap pily married for 64 years.
She worked for the Santa Fe Railroad until the birth of her first child in 1963. For the next 19 years she supported her family as a homemaker and mother. After her children were grown, she returned to the workforce in the administrative office of Lubbock High School until her retirement.
She was an active member in the Methodist Church throughout her life. She was also active in her children's activities all through their school careers.
Ann loved to spend her summers in Colorado with her family and friends. Along with her husband they spent a great amount of time attending various events for their grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were blessed by having her in their lives.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin Sherman and husband, Mac of Lockney, Texas; son
Thomas “TAG” Gay of Albuquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter, Anna Kidd and husband, Tyler; grandsons, Derek Gay and wife, Kayla, Luke Sherman and wife, Jasmine, Nic Sherman, and Kyle Gay; and great-granddaughters, Finley Kidd, Clara Kidd, and Jade Gay.
The visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2022 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.
Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Resthaven Memorial Park.
