Ruth Mathis, age 100, of Floydada, formerly of Post, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at her home. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Post. Reverend Steve McMeans of Lubbock officiated.
Interment followed in the Terrace Cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Ruth was born April 11, 1921 to Reverend M.E. and Minnie (Cole) Robinson in Big Spring, Texas. Ruth married the love of her life, Glen Mathis, on April 5, 1939 in Lamesa, Texas. They moved to a farm in Lynn County that Glen was buying. There was one daughter born to this union, Donna Ruth, on June 19,1949. The couple farmed until Glen’s death on April 2, 1983.
Ruth was a master seamstress, wonderful cook, and gardener. Since she and Glen were gregarious people and enjoyed company, she always kept the freezers full for the many friends stopping by.
Ruth is survived by one daughter, Donna Harmon, of Floydada, Texas, one great-niece, Cindy Boyd of Austin, and one niece, Marla Padier of Christoval, Texas.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her parents; her twin sister, Reba Mathis; and her only grandson, Chad Harmon, whom she adored.
