Body

LITTLEFIELD—Thurman Alan Davis was born on September 15, 1928, and went to his home in heaven on January 6, 2022 at the age of 93. He died in Littlefield, Texas.

Thurman was born in Floyd County, Texas, to Mason and Fannie Davis. He graduated from Lockney High School in 1946, and married Jewel Dean Wofford that October. They had two children. Dean died in February 1973, and Thurman married Lynna Jaye Jaffe in June 1974, inheriting two stepdaughters.

Thurman worked on a farm, managed a cooperative service station, and owned Davis Lumber Company in Lockney for more than 30 years. He also served as a city councilman, scoutmaster, and Little League baseball manager, and was a member of the Lockney Church of Christ. He sold his lumberyard in the 1980s and moved to Lake Amistad, near Del Rio. Around 2000 he moved to Thonotosassa, Florida, to be near his stepdaughters and their children. He later moved to Longwood, Florida, under the care of Tricia and Herb Hinely. He spent his last five months at Library of Legacies in Littlefield with the companionship of Danny and Donna.

Thurman was a devout Christian who loved to sing hymns, golf, watch old Westerns, and operate RC model airplanes. As “Grandad” he took his grandchildren boating and built them wooden toys and playhouses, and was renowned for his famous Big Red Frosties.

He is survived by his wife, Lynna; brother, Loy Davis; son, Danny and his wife, Jennie; daughter, Donna, and her husband, Dr. Craig Gladman; stepdaughters Tricia Hinely and her husband, Herb, and Laura Greiving and her husband, Paul; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly.
