Jose Perales, Sr., also known by friends and family as Little Joe, was called home by our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the age of 73 years old at Lubbock Heart Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Floydada. Father Renato Cruz officiated.
Interment followed at the Floydada Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 12 noon to 8 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada. Arrangements were under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Jose was born in Alice, Texas, to Modesta Rodriguez and Santana Perales on May 12. 1948.
Jose Perales was blessed to share 25 years of his life with Maria Escalon. Together they were blessed with eight children, 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Jose and Maria later migrated to New Mexico, where they resided for over 20 years. Jose was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. Most of all he was a great friend to his co-workers and anyone he met or worked with.
He enjoyed dancing, music, cooking and spending time with family and friends and his dog Blue.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Escalon, in 2016; and his parents; his brother, Rene Perales; his sister Norma Rhea; and his sister Angelita Vargas.
Those left to cherish and carry on his legacy are his children, Jose, Jr. and Rose Peralez of Plainview, Texas; Graciela and Gene Ortiz of San Antonio, Texas; Arlinda and Randy Hernandez of Plainview, Texas; Melisa Peralez of Austin, Texas; Leticia and David Longoria of Plainview Texas; Paul and Paris Peralez of Lubbock, Texas; Matthew and Samantha Escalon of Wolforth, Texas; and Patricia and Kevin Smith of Petersburg, Texas.
He is also survived by the mother of his first five children, Guadalupe Peralez of Plainview, Texas.
He is also survived by his best friends, Kelly Railsback, Phillip Gandara, Michael and Janet Kear, and the Russell family.
